1. Fix the AOL WWW browser settings. This is the easiest method if you do not want to load new software.
a. Version 3 click on "Members" OR Version 4 or 5 click on "My AOL", then "preferences", then the little "www" icon. This brings up "AOL internet properties" dialog box.
b. click the "Web graphics" tab. This will show you a message asking you if you want the graphics compressed for "faster loading". If the little box is "checked", left-click on it to UNCHECK it (it is the compression of graphics that makes them "fuzzy").
c. click OK, then you can "reload" the page.
d. if the images are still fuzzy, you have fixed the graphic problem BUT the old "fuzzy" images are stored in the cache in your computer and it will use them until is purged. To manually get rid of them, click "members">>"preferences">>"www " to get the "AOL Internet properties". For those using the AOL for Windows 95 click on the "advanced" tab and locate the center section where it says "temporary internet files". Click on the "settings" button and then on the "empty folder" button (lower right corner). You will get a query "Delete all files in temporary internet folder" (this is your cache, emptying it will not cause you to lose any part of your AOL program but will force the browser to reload your graphics from the website). Click "YES", then "OK" to close that window and another "OK" to close the Internet properties box. For folks using other versions of AOL, click on the "Advanced Button" and then you will get a dialog box which has a "Purge" button. Click this, and continue as needed to complete the task. After purging your internet cache, reload the site. This should do it! (P.S. - it is simpler when you do it than reading it here, believe me!)
2. GET NETSCAPE!!! This www browser can be run through AOL connection. Simply click "KEYWORD" and type in NETSCAPE. AOL members can download Netscape for free. Follow the instructions for loading and use and dispense with the tedious AOL WWW browser once and for all!
